I am a bookkeeper.  Over the past 20 years I have kept the books for a variety of types of businesses including retail, wholesale, construction and property management companies.  I have run my own business as well as worked as an employee.  One of my specialties is assisting those of our clients that practice "shoebox" accounting.  I have no fear!

In 1994 I returned to the Comox Valley with my husband and two boys after 12 years in North Vancouver.  I continued to commute to the Lower Mainland until late 2002 when I joined the team at Presley & Partners.

I particularly like the team approach used by Presley & Partners.  My ability to easily access all the different accounting specialties within the firm allows me to provide excellent service to my clients.  We are all focused on the same goal, "increasing the net worth of our clients."

My time outside of work is occupied by my family as well as my involvement in the Comox Valley Baseball Association and the Courtenay Shito-Ryu Karate Club.  My garden claims any leftover time.

My family moved to the Comox Valley when I was one year old.  I graduated from G.P. Vanier and attended the University of Victoria, receiving a BSc degree with a major in Psychology.

Like many people who grew up in the valley, I had to move away for awhile in order to fully appreciate how good we have it here.  I lived in Kitimat for 10 years, working as a power engineer in a chemical plant, before returning to the Comox Valley in 2000.

I've been working in public practice since 2002 and joined Presley & Partners in January 2006.  I enjoy working with clients to solve their business and tax issues.  My main focus is on completing  financial statements and tax returns for small and medium sized companies as well as personal tax returns for individuals.

My time outside of work is spent with my wife, 2 kids and 2 dogs.

I first discovered the Comox Valley in 1987 on a beautiful fall weekend of glorious sunny days and cool crisp nights.  My wife and I fell in love with the Valley and decided that this is where we wanted to raise children.  Our dream came true in 1993 when the two of us and our two small children moved from the east side of Vancouver to a small acreage on the Tsolum River.

Prior to joining the team at Presley & Partners in December 2002, I owned and operated my own small business in Vancouver.  As so many of us in the Valley have done, I lived in the Valley, but worked elsewhere.

I know the pressures and realities that those who run small businesses face in today's business environment.  I am familiar with the difficult trade-offs that must be made every day between business and family.  Last, and perhaps most important, I've experienced the joy that occurs with each business success.  There is no other feeling quite like it.

I completed the CGA program in 2008.

I am thrilled to be working at Presley & Partners.  Exceptional client service is just our starting point.

I grew up in North Vancouver and received a Bachelor of Commerce from UBC in 1991. Then after post-graduate travels to Europe, I completed my training for my CA with a firm in Vancouver. Shortly after receiving my CA in the summer of 1995 I moved to the Valley and Presley & Partners. Since that time, I have been promoted to Manager in 1999 and Principal in 2000 and became a partner January 1, 2007.

In the time I have been working in this business, I have had lots of experiences which have helped to shape me as an accountant - from large downtown Vancouver companies to small owner operator businesses, from walking on log booms to literally counting beans (there are not many of us who can really say we are bean counters!). These experiences help me to bring new ideas to every job I work on.

Of course I'm more than just a bean counter.  I particularly enjoy working in the area of tax planning (although, probably like all of you, I get really frustrated dealing with Canada Revenue Agency). I also enjoy working with our team, and helping them to achieve their best.

I also think it is important to spend time in a volunteer capacity and have been treasurer on several boards, including the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce for eight years.

For those times when I've managed to dig myself out of my office, you are likely to find me hanging out with my wife Kara and our three children, somewhere in the great outdoors or planning a trip to some far off place.

I moved to the Comox Valley from the Lower Mainland in 1982. Having grown up there, I quickly decided the Valley was the place for me. Presley & Partners brought me onto their team in 1990 and I have loved it ever since. Pretty much everything I know I have learned through this office.

I look after the work-in-progress and accounts receivable and produce financial statement packages. The best part of my job is I get to do all the fun and creative stuff. I help create promotional items such as newsletters, brochures, booklets, mailouts, advertising layouts and just about anything that needs an attractive presentation. I also had a hand in getting this website together.

Having a blended family with five children keeps me very busy with soccer, hockey, Tae Kwon Do, and lots of other fun activities that kids like to do. We also spend our time at the beach, lakes or parks camping & fishing or just going for walks in one of the many trails in beautiful Comox Valley.

I was born and raised in the Comox Valley. I left for a couple of years to attend B.C.I.T. in Vancouver to get my Financial Management Diploma of Technology. The B.C.I.T. diploma gave me three years of credit towards my C.G.A. designation. After a couple of years I was happy to return to this area to enjoy all that the area has to offer recreationally.

I have been working in public practice since 1981. During this time, I completed my C.G.A. designation and then in 1991 got my C.A. designation. I have been a partner since 1993.

What I have learned about public practice is that you never stop learning and there always are new challenges.  My ongoing professional development has included RAN ONE training courses as well as focusing on a variety of tax courses.  This training helps me to work with clients to solve tax and business issues.

The types of issues that I have experience dealing with include purchases and sales of a business, a variety of corporate reorganizations, business proposals and forecasts and a variety of other tax planning issues.

In my spare time, I have volunteered in community organizations such as Strathcona Nordics Ski Club (treasurer), the Comox Valley World Cup Organizing Committee (director of finance), the Comox Valley Communities Regional Playing Field Strategy Steering and Implementation Committee (chair) as well as being involved in School Planning Councils at my children's schools.  As much as possible, I like to spend time with my family in the outdoors either skiing or cycling.

In 2003 my husband and I were looking for a change from life in Alberta.  We traveled all over the province of BC looking for the best place to live.  Once we reached the Comox Valley we knew that's  where we wanted to make our new home. In August we moved here and haven't looked back to the east since!

My husband and I enjoy spending time at the beach and walking on the many trails in the area. We especially look forward to spending time with our adult children when they manage to get time off and come home for a visit.

I attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary and was granted a Business Diploma in Accounting in 1996. I then went on to earn my C.G.A. designation in 2002.

My professional experience spans both industry and public practice. I started my accounting career at a very young age doing the books for my Dad's business. Since then I have worked for a large oil and gas company, a trust company, and several other small businesses. In public practice I started off in a small firm and moved on to a large Chartered Accountants firm in Calgary. Soon after I arrived in the Comox Valley I joined Pisto Marriott which then merged with Presley & Partners in January 2006.

My work at Presley & Partners keeps me busy handling a variety of both corporate and personal files. Corporate year-ends and tax returns occupy a large portion of the year with personal tax work focused mainly during March and April. I was promoted to a management position and look forward to the new challenges.

I've always believed that clients are the heart of any accounting practice and I take great satisfaction in helping them meet their goals.

Originally from North Vancouver, I have spent the last twenty years on Vancouver Island in Nanaimo and the Comox Valley.

After graduating from B.C.I.T. with a Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management my work was mainly focused in the hotel & restaurant fields. I now enjoy using my various skills as a Administrative Assistant.

I love living in the Comox Valley utilizing many of the outdoor and recreational opportunities that are available here. You can usually find me at the river, beach or hiking trails in the summer or hitting the slopes in the winter.

The majority of my time is spent raising my three children.

My best days at work are when my day is a whirlwind of activity, working with many clients throughout the day, assisting my fellow team members and solving problems created by computers, the tax act and the economy.

I've been in public practice since 1987, achieving my Certified General Accountant designation in 1990 and Chartered Accountant designation in 1994.

I enjoy and have worked in tax and accounting for many years.  My focus is on improving client business profitability.  By conducting workshops for client teams and owners, mentoring or even just producing more meaningful financial reports, we are adding value to our usual tax and accounting services - and seeing the benefits enjoyed by clients and their team members.

I am delighted that Presley & Partners is a member of the RAN ONE network as this will keep our business along with our client’s businesses in the forefront – it’s the future!

My personal life is full of activities including walking my dogs (actually, they walk me!) and attempting to tame some acreage in the Dove Creek area. I enjoy hiking, scuba diving, golfing and gardening when I find the time.

I grew up in Vancouver; attending the University of Victoria for a year, then moved to Whistler in 1979. In 1988, my husband began his degree in Physiotherapy and we moved back to Vancouver to live at UBC.

We had heard the Comox Valley was a great place to raise a family so we moved here in 1991 to do just that. I began working in public practice in 2002 and joined Presley & Partners in January 2006.

Prior to working in the accounting field, I spent time traveling throughout B.C. and the Yukon working for a mining exploration company, skiing on the mountains of Whistler and Blackcomb as a lift host and a ski patroller, driving the Whistler roads as a bus driver, and drawing and sewing as a fashion designer.

Once the annual tax season rush is over I can be found travelling, cycling, hiking and, occasionally, working on the house.

Originally from Campbell River, I moved to the Comox Valley in 1995. I was still unsure about what I wanted to do long-term but that fall I started working in a local accounting firm. I learned so much over the next few years and finally decided to take the next step in my accounting career and enrolled in the CA program in 2000, finishing in 2001. I love that each day is different and that I get to meet so many different people in so many different industries.

I became part of the Presley & Partners team in 2006 and have enjoyed every minute. It's brought me lots of new challenges and the pleasure of getting to know new clients and new team members.

In my free time, I volunteer as the Treasurer of Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society which allows me to match my skills as an accountant with my love of wildlife. I also enjoy reading and spending time with family and friends.

I was born in Campbell River. Shortly after, I moved to Salt Spring Island and spent my childhood years growing up there until 2001 when my family and I moved to the Comox Valley.

In 2005, I graduated from Highland Secondary School. I then attended North Island College (NIC) and completed my Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in 2009. During this time I also completed a semester abroad at the International School of Management in Dortmund, Germany. This was a valuable experience as I was able to broaden my knowledge base beyond the Canadian perspective. After receiving my degree, I took some time to travel and reflect on what career path I would take.

I joined Presley & Partners in 2010. The variety of work available and the friendly team environment at Presley & Partners makes everything more enjoyable. I am currently working towards my Chartered Accountant (CA) designation and aim to complete this goal by 2013. The opportunity to assist clients in the success of their business and the lifelong opportunity to learn makes this a great profession to be a part of.

In my spare time I stay active by playing soccer year round. I also enjoy the occasional camping trip with friends in the summer.

1964! Yes, that's when I first started in the accounting field. So many things have changed! Automation, computers, faxes, the internet and the future whatever it may bring.

I was born in England, raised in England, Ontario and B.C. and moved to the Comox Valley in 1961. I love to travel, play at farming and even after all these years still look forward to going in to work each day.

When I first entered public practice it was auditing, accounting, financial statements and tax returns - all mainly dealing with what has happened. In the last few years our firm has made a major shift to being proactive and helping our clients improve their businesses. As the 'old guy' in the firm, this has reinvigorated me and the whole team as well as adding another challenge to our work. Its not that we didn't help our clients in the past - but we were limited in what we could do. We didn't have the formal programs and tools we have now. Now we are much more effective.

By the way, my wife Ann is also a CA and one of my partners in this firm. I have two grown children, Heidi and Trevor, and I enjoy getting involved in our community's future.

(Editor: Murray also has a seat on council for the City of Courtenay and is a director for the Comox Valley Regional District.)

I was born and raised in the Comox Valley. After graduating from G.P. Vanier I moved to Victoria to attend a technical college. After finishing my schooling I returned home to the Valley.

I started here at Presley & Partners in 1989 doing mainly the reception duties. Through the years I have been given new duites and now handle a wide variety of jobs in the office, as well as ensuring all of our clients are looked after and have a pleasant experience when visiting our office.

Through my years here at Presley & Partners I have had the privilege of working with a fantastic team.  The firm has gone through many changes as we are always striving to give our clients the highest quality of service.

Away from the office I enjoy spending time with my son and family. I also enjoy the many things the Valley has to offer, from the mountains to the beaches and I try to take advantage of them as much as possible.

I look forward to seeing you when you drop by our office.

Things have really changed for me in the last few years. I’ve always enjoyed accounting and working with our clients but wondered sometimes if we got the maximum value for our clients with what we did. Now that we’re a part of RAN ONE and have the resources and tools to help our clients improve their businesses and their lives, my work has become exciting and rewarding!

My university degree is in Economics, which is really quite different to accounting. While accounting reports on the past, economics looks toward the future. Our new business development services are similar to economics but based on strong accounting skills as well. How lucky I feel to now have the opportunity to use both areas of my knowledge and help people with their businesses.

Technology is of special interest to me. I really enjoy keeping up with the latest developments for the internet, e-commerce and computer systems. If there ever were “Interesting times” here in my lifetime, it’s now with the internet. The opportunities are limitless but the challenges equally large.

In my spare time I hang out with my (life and business) partner Murray on our small farm raising racehorses and we go travelling as much as we can.

I was born and raised in the Cowichan Valley.  After graduation I moved to Burnaby and spent most of my time hoping for an opportunity to return to the island.  My husband and I were fortunate that when the opportunity came it brought us to the Comox Valley.

Over the years I have taken bookkeeping and office administration courses which enabled me to work for some great companies, a tire company, a building supply store and now Presley & Partners.  I became a member of the Presley & Partners team in March of 2001 and have enjoyed every moment of it (including my first tax season) as no two days are the same.  My main duties are helping the front office team with reception and to assist other team members whenever I can.

In my spare time I am kept busy with my two children at home or at one of their extra-curricular activities.

I was born in the Kootenays and our family moved to Vancouver when I was going into grade 3. After a few years there, we moved to Campbell River. After high school, I moved back to the lower mainland where I lived for many years raising my son - being the soccer mom and Cub Scout leader.

I started working in public practice and took courses at UBC to earn my designation as a Certified General Accountant in 1986.

Before joining Presley & Partners in January 2006, I worked in Calgary for one of Canada's largest accounting services firm. I have had the pleasure of dealing with many small and medium size businessess as well as small municipalities. My work experience includes clients in a wide variety of industries including privately-held companies involved in construction, real estate development, manufacturing, wholesale, retail and investments, also professionals, municipalities and not for profit organizations.

Now that I am back living in Campbell River, the commute to work on the old island highway offers breathtaking and ever changing views. On days off, my husband and I enjoy the beaches, rivers and trails that this area offers for recreation.

Stephanie Walters, Bookkeeper    Team Photos

My first foray into the world of bookkeeping was as a clerk in the Sandspit Post Office. After living for 12 years in the Queen Charlotte Islands my family moved to a small farm in Merville where I did the books for 2 local charities while raising 2 boys, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, horses, a huge garden and a small orchard. When one of the charities decided to do payroll I enrolled in some courses at North Island College. I then worked for a forestry consulting firm for a  number of years before managing a local  bookkeeping business.

In the past 18 years I have done bookkeeping for more than 100 different businessess and I really enjoyed the variety. I become quite attached to my clients and many have become friends.

Joining the Presley & Partners team is certainly the highlight of my working career, the atmosphere is most congenial, supportive and we do have fun.

Outside of work I am very involved with my Faith community, I read, spin, knit, cook and garden. Recently I have revisited a childhood passion for dance and am taking Irish dancing lessons again.

I moved to the Comox Valley for the first time in 1998, and in 2004, I was lucky enough to be part of Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School's first graduating class. After high school, I attended three different post-secondary institutions in five years, and completed my Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurial Management from Royal Roads University. In those five years, I gained a wealth of knowledge, as each institute brought on  new challenges and experiences.

In September 2009 I completed my degree and moved back to the Comox Valley to continue my education, and settle into a new chapter of my life. Currently, I am working towards my CA, and hope to complete my designation in 2013. I am excited to be part of the Presley & Partners team, and continue to learn everyday.

In my personal time I enjoy camping, boating, and fishing, weather permitting of course. When winter finally hits, you can find me reading, watching hockey ( through the good and bad ) and spending time with my family and fiance.

I became a member of the Presley & Partners team in January 2010. Although my time here has been brief, the experience has been rewarding. Having been raised in the Comox Valley, I am very familiar with the local area and its various peculiarities. I graduated from G.P. Vanier Senior Secondary School in 1990.

In 1992, I moved to Victoria to take pre-Commerce courses at Comosun College and in September 1993, I entered the Commerce program at UVIC. While in the Commerce program, I specialized in Entrepreneurship. In June 1997, I graduated from UVIC with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

In 1997, I moved to Vancouver and began my pursuit of a C.A. designation and in 2001, I received my designation. Since receiving my designation, I have worked with various organizations both in public practice and in industry from small owner-managed companies to much larger entities.

Having experiences in both public practice and in industry has strengthened my various skill sets. At Presley & Partners I plan to apply these various experiences and skill sets to our client base in all areas of accounting and taxation. In addition, I look forward to using my experiences to assist clients in solving business problems that are specific to them.

When not working, I have been re-acquainting myself with everthing that the Comox Valley has to offer. I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I have travelled extensively in the past and hope to travel to exotic locations in the future.

Hi everyone!

I joined Presley & Partners in 1997, and since then have enjoyed working with a great team. I was born and raised in the Comox Valley where I graduated from Highland Senior Secondary in 1986. I went back to school in 1995 and graduated with a diploma in Business Administration from North Island College.

My studies led me to the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) profession and I have just recently been rewarded with the CMA designation. As a CMA I am fully trained in all facets of general accounting, including specialized training in management accounting, leadership and innovation.  I also received training in the skillful arts of communication and negotiation, and to construct a clear, strategic view of the organization.

Everyday at work is a new learning experience and within the office I can be found working on the inter office accounting, assisting the partners with various duties, helping clients on new accounting programs, especially Simply Accounting and working on clients year-ends and accounting issues.

When I am not at work I can be found either working on my farm or gardening.  I also enjoy taking my Golden Retriever, Tanner and Jack Russell, Hayley, on long walks or on trail rides my Quarter horse, Silver.
